Official Igloofest 2012 promo video

Hey guys sorry for not posting anything lately it’s just that my finals are coming up and I really need to get good grades if I don’t want to end up working in a McD’s for the rest of my life. So I don’t really have time for a full post but I just thought I’d share with you the Igloofest 2012 promo video. I thought it was kind of ironic that they chose a song from Botnek to play during the video since I had written about them on this website right before they released the video. The video is really trippy and the song really helps to install that trippy mood. All in all I find that this video is reaaaaalllly not as good as last year’s but still I’m not going to complain. In the video you’ll hear an excerpt of Botnek’s single entitled Owls. I love this song and now I’m looking even more forward to hearing them live!
So here it is the Igloofest 2012 promo video:

Here is the unreleased version of Owls played on BBC Radio 1 on Annie Mac’s show:

I love this track so much CHUNE!!!

I Love Techno 2011 Live DJ Sets

I Love Techno is one of the largest electronic music festival’s in the world. This year the lineup was simply insane. Most of the DJ sets were recorded and posted on the web. Some of them were ripped from a belgian radio station and that’s why they’re cut short. Here are a couple sets from my favourite artists. The one I prefer the most is Knife Party’s set which I though was massive.

Enjoy!

Boyz Noize

Crookers

Fake Blood

Brodinski

Skream &  Benga

Knife Party

I’m sorry I can’t find a way to embed them directly to the website so you’ll have to download them directly to your computer.

Eurosonic Noorderslag: The European Music Conference and Showcase Festival

Eurosonic Noorderslag: The European Music Conference and Showcase Festival
Speakers, Norway success, ETEP results, European Festival Awards and more

Eurosonic Noorderslag is Europe’s premiere live music industry conference and showcase festival for European talent, taking place in the picturesque university town of Groningen the Netherlands from 12th – 15th January 2011.

For this special 25th edition, Eurosonic Noorderslag is proud to present two keynote speakers from America. The first being Bob Lefsetz, whose provocative industry email newsletter provides an independent, sometimes visionary, take on the state of the music business around the world. And the second, US journalist Fred Goodman who has extensive knowledge of the industry and with his ability to access people “in the know”, he has been dissecting the global music industry woes and exposing in details its colorful characters. Expect an hour full of revelations, provocative views and entertaining anecdotes with one of the music industry’s foremost chroniclers.

The event will also start a day earlier on Wednesday 12th January and will feature the European Border Breakers Awards (open for all delegates) and the European Festival Awards (Festivals and Promoters only). Both events will take place in the evening. The conference starts on Thursday and during the three day program over 100 panels and meetings will address the current developments and state of affairs within the European music industry, focusing on European music, touring, festivals, the (live) music industry and media developments. The conference also features industry meetings by: Yourope, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), European Talent Exchange Program (ETEP), The European Export Office(s) and Network Europe.

Norwegian artist success at Eurosonic:
Norway was chosen as focus country for Eurosonic 2010, with 22 acts performing showcases during the event and as a result more than 80 festival shows and 40 club shows and tours have been offered to the Norwegian artists. Several acts also ended up with agent representation in new territories and received massive press interest and radio airplay. At least 15 agent deals were signed during or after the event. This is especially important, as these deals will generate business for a longer period of time and has given artists a wide variety of valuable exposure, which in turn will increase the interest in Norwegian music in the European market.

One example of an act that obtained great results from Eurosonic 2010 is The Megaphonic Thrift. They were offered 8 festival shows and signed a deal with an agent for Europe, which in turn resulted in 35 shows. They also got UK radio airplay after the Eurosonic gig. Another example is the jazz-metal band Shining, who received 15 festival offers and two tours, in addition to massive mainstream press coverage and increased record sales in the Benelux territory.

This proves that Eurosonic has become a very important arena for Norwegian bands in alternative genres.

“Eurosonic is by far the most important European festival for people in the live music industry” says Vegard Strømsodd of Amber Booking, who represented the five acts Shining, Audrey Horne, Rockettothesky, The Low Frequency In Stereo and Major Parkinson at Eurosonic 2010.

Artists that performed at Eurosonic 2010 were; Audrey Horne, Mari Boine, Diskjokke, Donkeyboy, Harrys Gym, I Was a King, Jarle Bernhoft, Kaizers Orchestra, Kvelertak, Major Parkinson, Marit Larsen, The Megaphonic Thrift, Monolithic, Noora Noor, Pony the Pirate, Rockettothesky, Serena Maneesh, Shining, Sivert Høyem, The Low Frequency In Stereo, Ungdomskulen, Wardruna.

Updated ETEP Results:
As the exchange and support of new European music in Europe is one of the main goals of Eurosonic Noorderslag, the special European Talent Exchange Program (ETEP) was introduced in 2003. Each year ETEP brings together the leading European festivals, radio and other media and stimulates them to ‘exchange’ a selection of artists and since the start of the ETEP program in 2003 a total of 1145 shows by 418 European artists were presented at the 60 ETEP festivals (2003 – 2010). The top 2 acts in 2010 were Mercury Prize winners the XX and Iceland’s FM Belfast. To see the full results click here http://www.etep.nl

European Festival Awards:
With hundreds of festivals being nominated, fans are getting themselves ready for the first round of voting when the longlists are announced. Over the following weeks, hundreds of thousands of votes will be cast as festival-goers and expert industry juries select their favourite events for categories such as Best Major, Medium and Small Festival, Best Indoor Festival, Artist’s Favourite European Festival, and Best European Festival Line-up.

Following its successful debut at 2010’s Eurosonic Noorderslag, the European Festival Awards, produced in co-operation with Yourope and Virtual Festivals Europe, returns as a key opening event, this time at the larger Stadsschouwburg venue, where festival organisers from across the continent will gather to find out who’s won, and celebrate the achievements of the past 12 months at a special gala ceremony. The event builds on the success of the UK Festival Awards, which has been running since 2004. For more information, see http://www.festivalawards.com

Popview Music Photography Competition:
In January 2011 the fourth edition of the Popview Music Photography Exhibition will take place at the Noorderlicht photo gallery in Groningen. Every year Popview showcases the artistic work of ten upcoming European music photographers and working together with EuroSonic Noorderslag the best photographer is presented the Lex van Rossen Award. With this award the organizers want to encourage young music photographers in Europe and winners from the past three years are Annie Hoogendoorn, Graham Smith and Tom Verbruggen. The Popview competition is open for all photographers under 35 years, please see http://www.popview.eu for more details. The deadline for entries is 1st October 2010.

Testimonials:
‘The best organized music conference on earth’ Folkert Koopmans, Fpk Scorpio, (DE)

‘The whole event is in the beautiful town of Groningen and has a great vibe that comes with all early shows in bands careers. It just so happened that after our show, some of the audience became fans and thus asked us to play on some of the festivals and shows that they book and that was very flattering. From that show we were allowed to discover some beautiful areas of Europe over the summer’. Charles Cave, White Lies (GB)

‘One of the most important platforms there is for bands looking to break into the Europeean Market’ Music Week (GB)

‘The place to second guess who’ll be the big European bands of the year.’ NME (GB)

“At first we were a bit intimidated by the thought of playing mostly for industry people and we started worrying, but as soon as we started playing we realized that they are of course people too and like to dance and listen to music. The show ended up being incredibly fun with a jumping crowd and wet walls and sweaty dancers. We got offered to play at really nice festivals after this show and that made it even more worthwhile.” FM Belfast (IS)

‘Due to their gig at Eurosonic Noorderslag, The Megaphonic Thrift signed an European
booking deal with top agent Steve Zapp of ITB’. The Megaphonic Thrift (NO)

“Eurosonic is by far the most important European festival for people in the live music industry” Vegard Strømsodd, Amber Booking (NO)

‘The most important gathering in the European live music business calendar’ Pollstar (USA)

‘I found the conference extremely valuable. The delegates are valuable connections in the
European music business. The showcase artists were top notch. Best of all is the proximity of the venues to each other, allowing the delegates to see a huge variety of music in one night.’ Tom Windish, The Windish Agency (USA)

Additional event info:
Eurosonic Noorderslag is Europe’s most important live music industry conference and showcase festival for European talent. With over 2800 delegates, showcases by 260 artists and a conference with 100 panels, keynote speakers, interviews and meetings, EuroSonic Noorderslag is the key exchange and networking platform for European music, European artists, international music industry professionals and organizations.

2011 is the events 25th birthday and as Eurosonic Noorderslag focuses each edition on a different European country, featuring performances by the best artists and organizing panels about the specifics of that market, it only felt natural to do the 2011 focus on The Netherlands.

MELT! FESTIVAL 16th -18th July Ferropolis, Germany

MELT FESTIVAL FINAL LINE UP
The last few slot’s of our 13th Melt! edition are filled and the winners are: Moderat feat. Paul St. Hilaire (Basic Channel) & Dellé (Seeed), Simian Mobile Disco (DJ set), Dendemann and a few other lucky ones.

Adding to Melt! line-up, our HomeSweetHome residents will join the Sleepless Floor crew. After heavy rains forced Moderat to cancel their gig last year, the Berlin boys are back this year and we are positive that their formula Modeselektor + Apparat = Moderat will eventually add up.

We are also happy to announce that Simian Mobile Disco is back for yet another year to rock the stage with a formidable DJ set. With Dendemann, Melt! 2010 welcomes one of our national mouth acrobats to this year’s line-up – will the live monster be a match for the huge caterpillars?

Melt! Anthem 2010 – free download
Actually this brings us to our next subject: the caterpillar’s gigantic proportions aren’t new. Their appearance, however, is finally appreciated in song format: “Gigantische Stahlgiganten” (gigantic steel giants) is the title of a song exclusively recorded by the Danish combo WhoMadeWho as a gift to us in order to show their admiration for our festival, and acts as our new and official Melt! Festival anthem.

Indeed, the song sounds like our festival! WhoMadeWho is thereby shortening everyone’s waiting time for the band’s new album which will probably be released at the beginning of 2011. Of course, WhoMadeWho will perform our anthem at Melt! They will end our three-day festival at Intro Zelt and expect everyone to join them. Of course, WhoMadeWho’s track will also be available on our Melt! Compilation 2010 which will be available at Melt! as well as various record shops.

If you want to get ready and study the lyrics, you can download their track for free here. http://www.meltfestival.de/getmp3.php

Melt! Festival Hotel Train
What else? Well, the Melt! Festival Hotel Train is nearly full. Only two more coaches left, so we recommend you act fast. All ticket holders can consider themselves lucky; Cologne’s Pttrns will be on board, the band who won their gig via a competition with Intro magazine’s Heimspiel. Judges from Intro and Melt! Booking were convinced by their performance, and we are looking forward to their performance at this year’s festival. To book a train ticket, click here. http://www.meltfestival.de

Only 3,000 tickets left for Melt! Festival 2010
Anyone still hesitating to buy Melt! tickets should also decide quickly: there are only 3,000 tickets left for Melt! Festival 2010. If you not only want to get a glimpse at Ferropolis from afar, check out http://www.meltfestival.de/tickets. Soon tickets will be exclusively available via our festival homepage, hard paper tickets in selected ticket shops. For more info, see below.

Melt! audio-visual warm-up session
All lucky ticket holders can shorten their waiting time till Melt! Festival’s launch with our new video format. Every Wednesday, a new episode of our audio-visual warm-up session will be posted on our homepage as well as 3min.de. This week’s episode features Modeselektor and Bonaparte hitting the gym.

Long story short: it’s number 13, baby!

Moderat feat. Paul St. Hilaire (Basic Channel) & Dellé (Seeed)
Modeselektor + Apparat = Moderat. In linguistic terms, this is called a “portmanteau,” musically it simply bursts out of your loudspeakers simultaneously. That’s exactly what happened in 2002 when Sascha Ring (Apparat) as well as Gernot Bronsert and Sebastian Szary (Modeselektor) recorded a first EP for bpitch. Even though recording the EP was quite exhausting, which is why the release was called “Auf Kosten der Gesundheit” (at the cost of health), the resulting project luckily outlasted a decade already. For this year’s Melt! appearance, Moderat teamed up with Paul St. Hilaire (Basic Channel)as well as Seeed’s Dellé. If this mixture isn’t explosive, we don’t know what is.

Melt! App & Running Order Online
Finally it’s here, Melt! Festival’s running order and the must-have for Melt! season 2010: our own Melt! app. So we decided to create our own Melt! iPhone app for you to be up-to-date for the duration of the festival. You will not only have access to the latest updates via push message but also be able to keep an eye on all our stages in real time. You are also able to create a personalised running order which will be updated as well so that you always know when your favourite band is playing. An FAQ section will provide you with all necessary info about Melt!, a map will show you the way, and a bus schedule is also available. Picture galleries will also bring Melt! Festival’s atmosphere right to your phone.

Cancelling Melt! Acts
Unfortunately, one of our residents has to take a break this year: Markus Kavka won’t be opening Melt! 2010 with his usual slot at Big Wheel Stage on Friday afternoon. Due to a commitment overseas, he had to cancel his DJ set, yet he is looking forward to next year already. Carl Craig was supposed to rock the stage together with Mike Banks. However, Banks had to cancel all European dates due to personal reasons, and therefore can’t attend Melt! Festival this year. However, formidable Carl Craig alone is great, no worries therefore. Unfortunately, Sweat.X left us as well, so we are going to miss out on some booty-licious electro rap. We are out looking for a replacement, though.

Tickets
3-day tickets (valid for Fri/Sat/Sun): 3,000 tickets left only!!!!
EUR 94 incl. booking fee and EUR 5 garbage deposit
All 3-day tickets will shortly be available via our festival homepage only (www.meltfestival.de/tickets).
A few hard paper tickets are still available in selected ticket shops.

2-day tickets (valid for Fri/Sat) are sold out!!!
Info: http://www.meltfestival.de/tickets

One-day tickets won’t be available on location! We also urge you to buy tickets from official ticket shops only. Last year, numerous fake tickets and also ovepriced ticket offers (e.g. on Worldticketshop) were sold and ought to be handled with care. Don’t support illegal ticket sellers by buying overpriced tickets. In this context, we want to point out that, due to security reasons and capacity issues, a valid festival ticket is necessary in order to enter not only the festival site but also the camping area as well. We strongly advise against arriving without a ticket in hand!

Official Melt! Opener – The Audiolith Pferdemarkt on July 15th:
It’s about time we get these guys on board and give them a highly official site opening party at a virginal festival site: Saalschutz, Egotronic, Bratze, Frittenbude and, of course, the DJs of Hamburg’s cult label are going to take over Melt! Klub on 15 July. This is also a noise control measurement for the neigbouring towns. Also this is why we kindly ask you to not organise any private parties with sound systems in the camping area. The capacity for the pre-party is limited to 3,000 people, so we are charging EUR 5 (including fees) for entrance. 50% of that fee will be donated to the Alberto Adriano Remembrance concert in Dessau on 12 July 2010. Melt! is an official partner to the concert and the proceeds will go in part to Adriano’s family in Mosambique, partly to help victims of right-wing extremist violence and also to finance an association to help spread awareness of right-wing extremists. Tickets are only available via http://www.meltfestival.de/tickets or on site – as long as there’s availability.

KAZANTIP REPUBLIC – PARTY PARADISE IN THE UKRAINE

Kazantip Republic is the biggest, longest, craziest, liveliest and most unusual electronic music event taking place on the beautiful Crimean Black Sea coast from 31st July to 21st August 2010. With 6 dancefloors, 30 bars and restaurants, 2 open air crimea halls, 3 kite stations and a huge number of various architectural constructions which you can even imagine, Kazantip is an undiscovered party paradise.

First acts to be announced include; Carl Cox, Ricardo Villalobos, M.A.N.D.Y, Josh Wink, Stanton Warriors, Loco Dice, Marco Carola, Hybrid, Joel Mull, Meat Katie, Guy Gerber, Raresh, Freestylers, Fergie, Joel Xavier and many more including special events by Cocoon, Get Physical, Toolroom, Poker Flat, Global Underground, Freak’n Chik and many others.

More names here http://www.facebook.com/topic.php?uid=113484835356786&topic=71

Kazantip Republic has been going strong for 18 years and is a space where people can totally express themselves: DJs, musicians, producers, film makers, designers, performers, freaks, beautiful dancing girls and toned kitesurfing boys. Having been compared to Ibiza and Burning Man, Kazantip has a wide range of parties 24/7, art projects, and a community of crazy people set against the mind blowing back drop of a technicolour light show – it looks like a giant space ship at night.

But why Republic? Of course Kazantip is a mythical republic, which does not exist but it is independent and sovereign. It has its own basic laws, President, Government and citizens – creative freaky people who are tired of normal ordinary life.

And you may have never heard about this imaginary Republic until now, but Sven Vath, Dubfire, Timo Maas, Paul van Dyk, Armin van Buuren, Crystal Method, LTJ Bukem, Oliver Huntemann, Stephan Bodzin, Tigerskin, James Zabiela, Robert Babicz and hundreds more well-known artists perform at Kazantip every year.

ARTIST QUOTES:
“It was a great experience for me to perform at the Kazantip. I had heard a lot about the World’s longest Techno party and I was not disappointed. A festival site that reminds of the props of a Mad Max movie, but much more colourful and friendly – and exactly that was also how the crowd was like and I was warmly welcomed with many gestures of friendship” Sven Vath

“Once in a lifetime experience!! KAZANTIP on Popovka beach Ukraine. Many people told me this is the best festival where you HAVE to go to… And I’ve seen it now myself. Believe the hype! You have to see this! Amazing!! Thank you Kazantip!” Armin Van Buuren
